Goshen, NY – On October 15, 2024, Alison Esposito, a 25-year veteran of the New York Police Department (NYPD), former candidate for Lieutenant Governor, and Candidate for Congress in New York’s 18th Congressional District, released the following statement on Pat Ryan’s failure to stand up against the United Nations threats to downgrade Israel’s status in the United Nations.
When a bipartisan coalition of lawmakers, including 11 Democrats, came together to address the United Nations’ threat to downgrade Israel’s status in the UN General Assembly, Pat Ryan remained silent. Israel has the right to defend itself without fearing retribution from the UN. Yet, Pat Ryan refused to join his fellow party members in calling for the UN to cease its threats and support Israel. Unlike Pat Ryan, I will always stand with our ally Israel as they seek to defend themselves in the wake of the atrocities of October 7th.
Alison Esposito
Esposito has been an outspoken advocate for Israel and its right to defend itself.
In November 2023, Esposito criticized Pat Ryan’s support for conditioning aid to our ally Israel. In December 2023, she slammed Pat Ryan for refusing to vote to condemn the anti-semitic phrase “from the river to the sea.”
In February 2024, she condemned Pat Ryan’s vote against a $17.6 billion standalone supplemental funding bill for Israel. In March, Alison released a statement condemning Senator Schumer’s call for new elections in Israel and Pat Ryan’s support for a ceasefire.
On April 7th, to mark the six-month anniversary of the October 7th attacks, Esposito proudly joined the Jewish Federation of Dutchess County for a Solidarity Walk on the Walkway Over the Hudson River with local community member Maurice Shnaider, the uncle of hostages Shiri Babas, Baby Kfir, and Ariel Babas, and other concerned supporters.
In April, she condemned the rise of antisemitic protests on college campuses across the nation, including the protests at Columbia University and Vassar College and called for an end to protests blocking traffic on the Newburgh-Beacon bridge.
In May, Esposito called out President Biden for threatening to cut off weapons supplies to Israel if Rafah was invaded and called for an end to the rampant antisemitism on college campuses.
In June, she appeared on NewsNation’s Dan Abrams Live to comment on police efforts to apprehend violent anti-Israel college protestors. In August, Esposito released a statement on the 5th birthday of Hamas hostage Ariel Bibas and called for the immediate release of all hostages currently held in Gaza.
