Celebrating St. Patrick’s Day
On Saint Patrick’s Day we commemorate the patron saint of Ireland, and, of course, come together to celebrate the many traditions and Irish-Americans who have made our country and the Hudson Valley the wonderful place that it is.
Since before the United States was founded, Irish men and women embarked on the harrowing journey across the Atlantic Ocean to make a new home in the United States, a land of hope and promise. Since then, Irish-Americans have made countless cultural, economic and spiritual contributions to our nation’s history and progress that continue to be evident today.
Whether in industry, the arts, sports, public safety, government, the Armed Forces, or business, Irish-Americans from all types of backgrounds and trades have made meaningful and compelling contributions to the Hudson Valley, to New York and our great nation.
With good cheer and high spirits, people from all walks of life come together this weekend to raise a toast to all things Irish.
May everyone in the 18th District have a happy, healthy and safe St. Patrick’s Day! Slainte!
